** CPSY 647 – Group Work in Clinical Settings
** Course

Description:

This course provides an overview of the theories and  practice of group counseling and consultation, with an emphasis on  evidenced-based group therapy models such as cognitive-behavioral,  problem solving, and psychoeducation and their application to a variety of  populations. Students will conduct in-class group therapy sessions,  participate in or observe mental-health consumer groups, design a  community workshop or therapeutic group.
** CPSY 632 – Child and Adolescent Therapy
** Course

Description:

This course will provide an overview of child and  adolescent development, and will include developing the knowledge and  skills in counseling children and adolescents.  Students will learn to assess  behavior and incorporate developmentally, ethnically, legally, and gender  appropriate strategies to meet the needs of counseling children and  adolescents.  Analysis, synthesis, and appropriate application of child  development and counseling theories to the practice of counseling children  and adolescents is emphasized
