College Lecturer
Position: Part‑time Lecturer, Department of English, Sacramento State
ResponsibilitiesDuties include instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Course assignments—dates, time, and modality—are determined by the Department Chair under the College Dean’s direction.
Activity DescriptionTeach introductory‑level lecture classes in Composition, Composition for Multilingual Writers, Advanced Composition, Linguistics, and Children's Literature. Special courses for qualified candidates may include Upper‑division Literature, Creative Writing, or Technical Writing (ENGL 120T).
Employment DetailsPart‑time lecturers receive conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, with renewal based on departmental needs, funding, and performance. Salary is based on Lecturer A or B rank and proportional to units worked out of 15 weighted teaching units (WTUs).
Required Qualifications• Master’s degree in Rhetoric and Composition, or a related field; or
• Bachelor’s degree combined with at least five years of teaching or relevant professional experience in one of these fields.
Prior teaching experience at the college level.
