Position Overview

The MIND Institute at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting 1-2 full‑time faculty members in the In‑Residence or Regular/In‑Residence split series at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank with a focus on translational research in neurodevelopmental conditions.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $150,000–$350,000 as part of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Position Description

Mandated responsibilities include teaching, independent research, mandatory service, and public service. The successful candidate will demonstrate external funding ability and be expected to lead translational science research in neurodevelopmental conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and conduct translational science research in neurodevelopmental conditions, evidenced by publications.
  • Provide leadership by bringing recognition to the MIND Institute.
  • Garner funding for research and programmatic efforts.
  • Maintain an active relationship with the professional community and enhance academic life of the MIND Institute, UC Davis Health, and UC Davis.
  • Participate in professional societies, educational organizations, and take leadership roles.
  • Serve on research review boards.
  • Engage in teaching and scholarly activities focused on neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Teach courses for undergraduate, graduate, postdoctoral, or medical students.
  • Mentor early career scientists.
  • Provide service to departmental, school, and campus committees.
  • Foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Research focus in translational neurodevelopmental disabilities, including iPSCs, cognitive neuroscience, genetics/genomics.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree
  • Experience to be appointed at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.
  • Outstanding record of research creativity, independence, and productivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain extramurally funded research programs.
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate level.
  • Ability to communicate effectively as a teacher.
  • Commitment to educating diverse early career scientists.
Preferred Qualifications
  • International recognition for research in autism or closely related neurodevelopmental conditions.
