SUMMARY

The Head Teacher shall work as a team member to ensure a high standard of quality care is provided to enrolled children,highqualitytrainingandserviceto

Sacramento

State students.

Responsibilities include managingallaspects of the classroom including environment, curriculum, regulatory compliance, confidentiality, training and supervision of staff, fieldwork student and volunteers, records maintenance, and parent communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • MaintainsregularattendancetoensureclassroommeetthestaffingratioperCAstate regulations
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the classroom for up to 40 children enrolled with flexible schedules.

    This includes environmental set up, curriculum development,supervision of children and staff,monitoringchilddevelopment,maintainingclassroomsupplies,firstaidand daily health checks.
  • Work collaboratively with families, staff and outside consultants to ensure individual children’s educational needs are met. Create a positive classroom environment which respects diversity and inclusion.
  • Train, supervise and evaluate Associate Teacher on all aspects of the classroom. Work collaboratively to ensure consistent classroom operation and compliance. Issue corrective action as needed per ASI policy.
  • Train,superviseandevaluateupto
    20studentstaffinperformingdailyclassroom tasks. Provide hands- on, in the moment training to college student assistants. Organize and conduct in-depth training sessions on current Child Development principles and practices. Monitor student performance, provide guidance and feedback daily and issue corrective action as needed per ASI policies.
  • Train , supervise , an d guid e Fiel d Work Student s. Thi s include s guidin g cours e projects and completing performance evaluations in alignment with college coursework requirements. Monitor and supervise classroom observers.
  • Effectivecommunicationwithadministrators,parents,and children.

    Sharesinformationwith Center administrators (i.e. concerned parents, a child’s behavior problems, or an employee’s performance issues).Regularly communicate and collaborate with fellow teachers (i.e. as child(ren) transition to different classrooms).
  • Communicatewithparents onaregularbasisregardingchilddevelopment,behavior issues,parenteducationand other child related issues. Complete parent teacher conferences.

    Develop a monthly classroom newsletter
  • Knowledge and compliance with regulations of all governing agencies (i.e. licensing) as well as other applicable Federal,State,County,andorganizationalpolicies.

    This includes,butis notlimitedtoTitle
    22,Title5,NAEYC,and the Child and Adult Food Program.

    Accurately report any required data meeting all established deadlines.
  • Complete administrative tasks and accurate documentation for “Desired Results”, National Association for the Education of Young Children,anecdotalrecordsonchildrenandotheradministrativetasksasneeded.

    Provides required information to Center administration meeting established deadlines.
  • Supervisors other classrooms as needed.
  • Mayserveassitesupervisorintheabsenceofthe Center Director and Associate Director .Mayassist Center Director and Associate Director in performing other duties as needed (environmental and administrative).
  • Staycurrentwithemergingpracticesbothin Child Development and  technology through continued professional development and outside trainings.
  • Otherdutiesmaybe assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’sDegreein Child Developmentorrelated  field
  • Pediatric First Aidand  CPR
  • Clear criminal background
  • Current Health Screening (liftingupto
    50lbs.,abilitytostand4to6hoursdaily.,bendandsquat,sitonfloor 1-2 hours daily,
  • Perlawmustbeabletoprovideproofofimmunizations(Measles and Pertussis-whooping cough)
    Influenza waiver or annual proof of influenza vaccination
  • ClearTB tests
  • Knowledgeofwindows-basedpersonalcomputers–Microsoft Word,Excel,and Outlook

    Toddlerunitsisrequiredtoworkwithchildrenunder3yearsof age.
  • Ability to attend Mandatory Monday Night Trainings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • PITC(Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers ) trained
  • Experience with Desired Results which includes DRDP assessments, ERS, and CLASS Assessments.
  • Experience with NAEYC Accreditation
  • Mandated Reporter Training
  • Basic Pest Managementina School &Child Care Setting  Training
