Compensation

$22.50-$26.00 per hour (based on experience and certifications)

Full-Time - 205-day work year

Monday-Friday schedule (no evenings, weekends, or holidays)

About the Role

Capitol Academy and Capitol Elementary are seeking motivated Transporter / Teacher Assistant who are passionate about supporting students with special needs both in the classroom and throughout the community. The Transporter / Teacher Assistant plays a dual role in supporting students throughout the school day by providing safe and reliable transportation while also assisting classroom staff in creating a positive, engaging and supportive learning environment.

This position helps ensure students arrive safely, participate successfully in classroom activities, and receive the supervision and support needed to thrive.

What You'll Do
  • Safely transport students to and from school, appointments, or approved activities while following all transportation policies and safety procedures.
  • Assist teachers with classroom instruction, learning activities, and student engagement.
  • Support students with academic tasks, behavior management, and social-emotional development.
  • Help supervise students during classroom transitions, recess, lunch, and other school activities.
  • Prepare classroom materials, organize learning spaces, and assist with daily classroom operations.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and school staff regarding student needs, transportation concerns, and daily observations.
  • Maintain accurate transportation logs and report any incidents, concerns, or maintenance issues promptly.

Requirements / Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational, childcare, or youth program setting preferred.
  • Must pass fingerprint clearance and TB test
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain)
