Lecturer Pool – Social Science Program
Position Details
The Social Science program draws from perspectives and methodologies of economics, geography, history, and political science. Courses engage students through seminars and faculty–supervised independent learning activities.
Responsibilities
• Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours for part‑time courses.
• Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs.
• Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are determined by the Program Director under the direction of the College Dean.
Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. 2024 salary ranges (full‑time rate of 15 weighted teaching units):
- Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211
Appoints are typically for one semester, sometimes for an academic year. They may be renewed based on department needs, funding, and performance.
Required Qualifications- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in one of the core disciplines (or closely related) with a minimum of five years of related professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse students and colleagues and to create inclusive learning environments.
- Academic preparation and experience related to the teaching area.
- Evidence of effective teaching.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
