Under general supervision, the Professional Development Specialistprovides employment services to survivors of human trafficking and at-risk individuals with barriers to education and/or employment. This role will offer coaching and guidance in identifying and preparing for employment and educational opportunities, matching clients with appropriate opportunities, and working with employers/educational institutions to support clients. This position requires knowledge of education navigation, career coaching, job placement fundamentals, and the ability to build relationships.

The Professional Development Specialist is responsible for matching clients with appropriate employment or education opportunities and organizations.

SALARY RANGE: $55,000-$58,000 PER YEAR

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client Support

  • Builds rapport and works one-on-one with survivors of human trafficking and at-risk individuals (clients) to provide career and/or education readiness support.
  • Provides educational navigation, career exploration, and job/educational placement services by meeting with clients regularly and conducting client interviews to assess skills, interests, aptitudes, and other qualities, and matching clients with employment and/or educational opportunities. This is done through an intake evaluation, writing a comprehensive employment/education services plan, and identifying appropriate classifications, skills, and placement for a job/school.
  • Assists clients with the following: education/job applications, resume, cover letter, letter of interest writing and preparation,enrollment & follow-ups on employment applications, financial literacy, time management, goal setting, study support, and additional workforce/education development services depending on client needs.
  • Collects client placement information and serves as liaison and outreach specialist between 3

    SGF and employment and educational partners, including visiting clients in their job/internship/educational setting, and providing on-the-job and academic coaching.
  • Facilitates job/education readiness workshops and classes about services offered and presenting needs to ensure the client is provided applicable services and resources to aid in reaching their goals.
  • Supports clients through specialized workforce & education programs including a medical initiative and hospitality program.
  • Holds regular office hours at The Table drop-in center for any clients needing support.
