Position Summary

The Veterans Success Student Resource Center (VSSRC) Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee (APCT) is a trainee level appointment working under the lead direction of the VSSRC Program Coordinator (SSP III) and with close supervision of theVSSRC Director. During the trainee period, which is not to exceed 12 months, the Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee (APCT) is expected to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to function under general supervision at the SSP IB working level.

The incumbent assists the Center’s Program Coordinator through clearly defined efforts to deliver integrated support services and programming aimed at improving students’ academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, and enrichment of the overall student experience.

This position will serve as a mentor and advisor to students. In addition, the APCT will work with interns and student assistants to support staff who design and deliver programs for graduate and/or undergraduate students to promote and raise awareness around student excellence through events/programs, written materials and representation on campus-wide committees.

Anticipated Hiring Range
:
The salary rate for this appointment is $4,150 per month.

CSU Classification Salary Range
: $4,150 per month -$5,076 per month

Recruitment Type

Temporary(1-Year Limited Duration. Possibility for reclassification into the SSP IB classification for an additional 1-year appointment.)

- Friday 8:00 a.m.

- 5:00 p.m. with occasional evening and weekends, dependent on department needs

The Veterans Success Student Resource Center supports veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and military-connected students by providing VA education benefits guidance while connecting students to campus resources, career development, leadership opportunities, and community partnerships.

Our goal is simple: to ensure every military-connected student feels supported, connected, and empowered to achieve their educational and career goals.

Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing. Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews; clearly express ideas and recommendations orally;

write clear and concise reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty.

Experience:

None required.

Education:

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis
