Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Director of Veterans Success Student Resource Center, the incumbent is responsible for helping to coordinate and carry out programs along with fiscal operations, and general student services support within the Veterans Success Student Resource Center (VSSRC). In conjunction with the Director, the VSSRC Program Coordinator will perform a variety of complex and/or sensitive professional student service work related to student learning and development that align with the mission of Student Affairs.

Assignments typically require the application of both knowledge and judgment in using the principles, techniques, standards, practices and professional skills characteristic of a particular student service program or activity. This generally requires planning, both interviewing and counseling techniques, and a high degree of judgment to recommend solutions to problems and changes in program procedures, and/or acting as a spokesperson within the area of expertise.

This role requires use of sound independent judgment while dealing with complex student service problems. It demands the utilization of advanced interpersonal skills with both individuals and groups, to be flexible and versatile, to use tact and sensitivity and to apply effective analytical skills in assisting with the preparation of documentation, mandatory reporting, and program assessment. The incumbent is responsible for providing general advising and counseling for VSSRC students, overseeing program staff, coordinating program student support, offering on and off campus resources, and leadership development.

In addition, the incumbent will engage in organizing events and maintaining working relationships with stakeholders. The incumbent also encourages inter- and intra-campus collaborations to deploy and collaborate on initiatives with local military-affiliated community organizations.

FLSA:
Exempt (Not eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range: $5,540 per month (Anticipated hiring rate is at the minimum of the classification salary range)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,540 per month - $7,893 per month

Work Hours:

8:00am-5:00pm, M-F, other occasional hours as needed. Summer Hours are 7:30am - 4:00pm.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and Abilities:
The following knowledge and abilities as well as those listed at the lower levels in the Student Services Professional series are required for appointment into this classification. Thorough knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior. General knowledge of the principles, practices and trends of the Student Services field as well as general knowledge of the policies, procedures and practices of the program area to which assigned;

general knowledge of individual counseling techniques; general knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire such knowledge, of the organizational procedures and activities of the specific campus to which the position is assigned.
