Lecturer Pool – Music
The School of Music at Sacramento State prepares students to excel as artists, educators, and engaged citizens through individualized instruction, collaborative ensemble experiences, and a comprehensive curriculum in music and the liberal arts. We seek versatile, collaborative musicians and educators committed to artistic excellence, inclusive teaching, and engagement. Lecturers are hired on an as‑needed basis across applied music, piano, ensembles, jazz studies, music education, music history and literature, music technology, music theory, and general education courses for non‑majors. Duties include instruction, class preparation, grading, Canvas course management, office hours, and other assignments as needed.

Part‑time lecturers have conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget, typically starting with one semester and may be renewed. Courses and schedules are assigned by the Director of the School of Music under the direction of the College Dean.
Rank and Salary- Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211
Salary ranges are based on a full‑time rate (15 weighted teaching units). Early appointments are prorated to the units taught.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree in the discipline or Bachelor’s Degree with more than five years of relevant professional experience
- Doctorate; college‑level teaching experience
