Kern Community College Districtaccepts applications for part-time, hourly faculty pools on acontinuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately, if a need arises without having to wait fora period of time to advertise. Kern Community College District is soliciting applications forpart-time, hourly adjunct instructors. The starting salary range is $67.00/per lecture hour equivalent;
Hourly rate may vary based ontype of assignment and the Lecture Hour Equivalent (LHE) formula.

This course is an introduction to American Sign Language (ASL), avisual-gesture language used by the deaf community in the United States and Canada, and more importantly, focuses on the development of basic conversation skills emphasizing the culture and history ofASL through in-class and out of class requirements.

Identify and demonstrate finger spelling, numbers, and vocabularyat a beginning level. Describe and demonstrate American Sign Language classifiers, grammar structure, facial expression, andbody movement. Compose ASL Gloss translation from English. Explainbasic cultural aspects of the Deaf. Examine and show an understanding of history, culture, and civilization of the Deafworld.

This assignment may include teaching at other campus sites, day orevening classes, weekend classes, large classes, distance learning and multiple teaching methodologies.

• Bachelor degree and 2 years related professional experience
