California Energy Commission (CEC) is hiring an Energy Equity Indicators Lead in the Consumption Data Analytics Unit of the Advanced Electrification Branch of the Energy Assessments Division (EAD). This position is an “Electric Generation System Program Specialist I” state classification.

Our Energy Equity Indicators Lead is responsible for performing the most difficult and complex engineering, economic, policy analysis relating to Energy Equity Indicators to assess areas such as energy burden, affordability, reliability, and identify underserved communities.

In regards to Assembly Bill 3264 (AB 3264), our Energy Equity Indicators Lead will assess, track, and analyze metrics such as total annual energy costs paid by residential households in California and coordinate equity efforts across other Energy Assessment Division branches.

EAD assesses California’s electricity, natural gas, petroleum, and transportation systems and trends to provide information to the state’s decision makers and the public. These assessments inform the development, and implementation, of energy policies that balance the need for adequate resources with economic, public health, safety, and environmental goals

Qualifications:
  • Experience in the energy sector working with transmission, distribution, transportation energy data.
  • Some experience in the equity field.
  • Experience working with diverse groups to achieve a common goal.
  • Developing reports, technical documentation, and instructional materials.
  • Presenting at workshops, meetings, public forums.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS).
  • Experience gaining and maintaining the confidence and cooperation of others, collaborate, and work on multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to use project and time management techniques to ensure successful and timely completion of projects and assignments.
  • Ability to manage a workload consisting of multiple projects and assignments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to individuals and groups related to energy and energy equity.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders with diplomacy and tact, especially concerning difficult and sensitive issues.
  • Experience with data analyses and data modeling.
