Iteris is looking for an Associate Vice President that seeks to join a talented group of professionals to promote thriving communities by applying innovative engineering and technology solutions to solve complex issues in transportation. You will work with all levels of public agency clients to make mobility safe, efficient and sustainable for everyone.

• Participate in regional business strategy development and execution to meet regional business objectives.
• Develop and serve a client base for providing superior traffic and transportation engineering and planning services.
• Conduct business development activities including pre‑marketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiations.
• Lead technical project delivery, provide technical expertise and guidance, guide key technical decisions, and make recommendations to our clients on complex and innovative transportation projects.
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert in any combination of traffic engineering or planning, transportation engineering or planning, signal operations or timing/coordination, ITS planning, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, or system integration.
• Serve as Project Manager or Principal‑in‑Charge for large multidisciplinary projects involving transportation planning, traffic engineering, signal operations, ITS design, implementation, and integration projects.
• Manage, mentor, and provide leadership to staff engineers, planners and associated technical staff to support their growth and development.
• Operate actively in professional organizations at various levels (local, state, or national) and remain current in the latest technical innovations, laws, codes and regulatory compliance developments in traffic and transportation practices.
• Travel locally and statewide as required.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Traffic Engineer (TE) licensure, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification, or American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification desired.
• At least 15 years of demonstrated expertise in the transportation planning, engineering, or ITS industries.
• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role; experience leading multidisciplinary teams is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in business development within the Transportation Planning, ITS, or Traffic Engineering/Operations industry.
• Successful track record of public‑sector client service.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to interact with internal staff, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Understanding of state, regional or local transportation industry with a strategic market understanding of trends affecting the future of transportation; knowledge and experience within California preferred.
• Passion for the transportation industry.
• Familiar with tools such as Synchro, Sim Traffic, VISSIM, GIS, AutoCAD, Micro Station, etc.

Iteris anticipates paying a base salary between $180,000 and $210,000 for this role. Actual pay offered may be below or above these amounts, depending on the individual’s job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
