Job Description and DutiesUnder the general direction of the Senior Engineering Geologist (Supervisor), the Engineering Geologist is responsible for:
- Performing Timber Harvest Plan (THP) reviews
- Conducting forest and watershed related geologic, slope stability, and erosion reviews
- Executing geologic hazard assessments
- Producing local and regional geologic and geomorphic mapping
- Analyzing fluvial geomorphic features
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) reduces an employee’s monthly salary by 3% in exchange for leave credits. This reduction is not reflected in the salary ranges listed above.
Eligibility InformationIf new to California state service, you must have taken and passed the Engineering Geologist examination to be hired. Current state employees without transfer or list eligibility must also pass the examination.
Education InformationApplicants using education to meet minimum qualifications must provide unofficial transcripts. Applicants with foreign degrees must submit evaluated transcripts. Official transcripts are required prior to appointment.
