Job Description and DutiesUnder the direction of the Branch Chief of Mobility Systems Applications, a Senior Transportation Electrical Engineer (Supervisor), the incumbent, a Transportation Engineer (Electrical), serves as the Embedded Systems Engineer in the Mobility Systems Applications Branch. The incumbent provides engineering support, contract and project management support, and technical support for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects and develops software programs used to control and monitor the department’s traffic signals and ramp meters.
WorkingConditions
The position is located at 1820 Alhambra Blvd., Sacramento, Sacramento County. This is a limited‑term position that may be extended to 24 months or become permanent. The position may be eligible for telework; employees are expected to commute as needed and may be required to travel for business. Commute expenses are the responsibility of the selected candidate.
Minimum RequirementsMinimum Requirements are found in the Class Specification.
Special Requirements- Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle.
- Appointment to Range D requires a valid Professional Engineering License (Electrical) issued by the California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers. For all other ranges, a PE license is not required.
- Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required.
The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages, 12‑point Arial font. It should explain why you are a great candidate, describe knowledge and experience with software development and networking systems, describe a complex engineering problem you resolved, and describe communication experience.
