Job Summary

The Infrastructure Cabling Services (ICS) Communications and Technical Analyst IV provides senior level operational and technical support for UC Davis Health’s telecommunications infrastructure and low voltage systems. Working within a multidisciplinary team that includes Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDDs), DAS engineers, and operational technicians, the incumbent collaborates closely with engineering, construction, and operational stakeholders to ensure telecommunications infrastructure supports reliability, redundancy, scalability, maintainability, and code compliance within mission‑critical healthcare environments.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Hold a valid California driver’s license and maintain a driving record in accordance with local policies
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum five years’ experience in telecommunications structured cabling, Outside Plant (OSP), and telecommunication pathways and spaces with strong knowledge of low‑voltage cabling design and construction processes in healthcare environments
  • Experience with network testing and troubleshooting tools and procedures for twisted pair cabling, fiber optic systems, and LAN testing
  • Technical knowledge to engineer and complete field work related to Ethernet, DAS, 70V paging, telephony analog systems, fiber optic communications transmission and design
  • Ability to articulate, write and execute scopes of work related to information technology, including modifying layer one physical plant communications for new and existing systems
  • Knowledge of overhead paging systems (25 V, 70 V, and IP‑based paging)
  • Knowledge of CSI master format and creation of specifications for technology systems
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Visio
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with ability to work diplomatically across diverse stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) practices and exposure to platforms such as Service Now
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply relevant codes and standards, including BICSI TDMM, TIA/EIA, California Building Code, NFPA, California Fire Code, HCAI regulations, and UC Davis Health IT Standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • Holding or willing to pursue registered credentials such as RCDD, DCDC, OSP, or Installer II demonstrating expertise in structured cabling and low‑voltage infrastructure
  • Additional certifications relevant to healthcare and mission‑critical environments, including OSHPD/HCAI compliance training and credentials supporting knowledge of CBC, CEC, NEC, NFPA, CSI, and ICRA standards
  • Holding or willing to pursue Auto Desk software certifications such as BIM 360, Navisworks, Revit, or AutoCAD
  • Hands‑on experience in structured cabling installation, rack and stack, network refresh, and network patching
  • Experience with Service Now and IT service management frameworks and tools
  • Experience working with vendors on support and maintenance contracts; managing vendor relationships
  • Hands‑on design experience with clinical and operational telecom platforms, including advanced OHP, VoIP, DAS, and ERRCS
  • Experience with process development, standardization, and enforcement in large‑scale IT/telecom or facilities organizations
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit, technical writing, project management, and cable installation
  • Experience securing bids, purchase orders, managing funding, and project managing work to accountability for completion
  • Maintenance experience with DAS and overhead paging systems
  • Strong diplomatic collaboration with divisional leadership, facilities planning, and IT project management teams
  • Advanced expertise in low‑voltage design and construction management for healthcare or mission‑critical environments
