The Project Engineer (PE) provides technical and administrative support for all phases of a construction project. The PE is responsible for managing submittals, RFIs, drawings, change orders, documentation, and closeout requirements, while coordinating with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams. This position plays a key role in ensuring project accuracy, efficiency, and compliance from preconstruction through closeout.
Project Oversight & Team Support- Serve as a primary technical resource for assigned projects.
- Support Project Managers and Superintendents in the execution of project objectives.
- Coordinate job handoff meetings with field leadership.
- Generate and log submittals in Plexxis; review scope and confirm compliance with specifications.
- Assist in the production of shop drawings identifying installation areas.
- Maintain updated project documents in Plan Grid, including drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
- Track warranties and submit all required documents at project closeout.
- Prepare and log internal RFIs based on field and PM input.
- Extract and organize external RFI documentation provided by clients/GCs.
- Request and submit Engineering Judgments (EJs) for project-specific conditions.
- Generate and price change orders based on approved labor and material rates.
- Ensure CORs are supported with takeoffs, OST data, RFIs, and tags, and logged into Plexxis.
- Follow up monthly with clients on outstanding change orders.
- Review project schedules and share updates with Superintendents.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Superintendents to align timelines with contractual obligations.
- Support field coordination, including attending pre-job conferences and assisting with badging.
- Provide progress photos, videos, and documentation in collaboration with field foremen.
- Assist Safety Manager with project-specific safety support.
- Ensure field teams have current documentation, scope details, and direction.

Participate in continuous internal coordination meetings.

Summary:
Present project status to senior leadership, including cost updates, cash flow analysis, projections, and potential risks.
- 1–3 years of experience in construction project engineering or related role.
- Familiarity with construction documents, submittals, and RFIs.
- Experience with Plexxis, Plan Grid, Bluebeam, or equivalent systems.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of insulation, fire stopping, sealants, or air barrier scopes is a plus.
