Role DescriptionArcadis is currently seeking a highly motivated Sr. Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join the Power Delivery team in the USA.

This is a technical position within the Power Delivery unit. The role consists of coordinating and developing the Power System Planning & Study team, and performing HVAC and/or HVDC planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies and systems analysis investigations for clients in North America and globally. The incumbent will work closely with other Power Delivery & Renewables departments—including Substation Engineering, Transmission Engineering, Protection & Control Engineering, and Renewables teams—as well as other Arcadis divisions on related system studies and sector master plans.
RoleAccountabilities
- Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study and planning projects for regulated, non‑regulated, developer, or other industrial clients.
- Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load‑flow, short‑circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small‑signal stability analysis, system impact study, reliability analysis, etc.
- Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria and good engineering practice.
- Deliver accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summary and other client deliverables that meet industry standards and specifications and good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
- Be responsible for QA on client reports and deliverables.
- Maintain close coordination and help other relevant Arcadis Business Units and Practices for cross‑selling and cross‑staffing opportunities. Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
We are seeking an individual with a strong team‑player mindset and excellent communication skills. The role may involve travel of up to 25% to client sites and customer meetings within North America and potentially internationally.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum eight years of direct experience with power system study, analysis and planning.
- Proficient with the PSS®E, PSCAD, and PSS/E software packages, including load‑flow, short‑circuit and transient stability analysis. Experience with alternative planning software such as TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools is highly desirable.
- Familiar and experienced with key North American Market Operators (MISO, PJM, NE‑ISO, NY‑ISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, model analysis, requirements and criteria applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, especially related to bulk power systems.
- PE License.

Nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO accrue per year. Salary range for this position is $97,600 – $169,360.
Actual salaries vary based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
