Job Overview
The Estimator II will utilize their expertise to accurately assess project costs and contribute to the success of our electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in electrical estimating, a comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, and excellent analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities- Fully understand Rex Moore’s pre-award processes and the services provided to the client.
- Review all bid documents to define scope, identify potential risks, and research and mitigate new risks.
- Establish client expectations to fully define scope expectations.
- Provide detailed cost estimates that cover the defined scope.
- Perform accurate material takeoffs of electrical systems.
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of the estimating process, working with vendors, subcontractors, subconsultants, and clients.
- Obtain quotes on items such as lighting, power distribution, and generators.
- Review and understand inclusions and exclusions of quotes from outside vendors, select compliant bids, and send required revisions back to non-compliant quoting vendors.
- Enter material takeoffs into Accubid.
- Work in conjunction with internal Low Voltage and Fire Alarm estimators.
- Enter all project information into recap sheet for review and approval by supervisor.
- Schedule and attend estimate review with the preconstruction director and project executive of the region supporting the bid.
- Follow up with clients after bids have been submitted to obtain key information on how Rex Moore finished.
- Complete the necessary steps upon award of a project to turnover scope, proposal, and budget to the project management team.
- Compile relevant bid documents, quotes, schedules, budget, and related items.
- Complete project brief.
- Provide support to relay scope definition and associated backup of how scope was covered to the PM team.
- Follow up with client as required to determine open items such as alternates, status of pending contract, and release.

- Estimator II typically works in an office environment, occasionally visiting worksites to observe a project or meet with clients. When on worksites, Estimator II is required to wear PPE, including a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots, and high-visibility vest/shirt.
- Working around energized equipment.
- Role requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain & snow.
Reports to – Preconstruction Director
Department – Pre-Award
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of electrical systems and applications in the commercial and industrial environment.
- Ability to interface comfortably with key personnel from the General Contractors team.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specs (electrical and other trades as they pertain to electrical scope).
- Thorough knowledge of Bluebeam, Accubid, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, Dynamics.
- Willingness to work in a potentially fast-paced environment.
- Ability to meet deadlines with accurate takeoffs and proposals across complex and/or multiple concurrent estimates.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work within a team setting.
- Ability to effectively communicate takeoff approach to other team members and external people.
- Ability to start, build, and maintain relationships with clients and 3rd parties such as architects and engineers.
- Willingness to mentor junior team members.
- Verbal communication: convey detailed and accurate instructions and information.
- Hearing: with or without correction to receive and interpret detailed information.
- Required to sit at a desk workstation for long periods of time.
- Push, pull, lift, and carry at least 10 pounds.
- Frequently required to walk and stand; may involve infrequent site visits requiring walking on uneven surfaces, climbing stairs, and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Visual acuity: with or without correction to read contract documents, analyze data, view a computer monitor, and proofread documents to identify errors.
- Use fingers and hands: type using a computer keyboard, handle, feel, and reach.
- May occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employee’s knowledge, experience, and skill level.
