Summary/ObjectiveStep into a career defining role as a Foundry Semiconductor Process Technician at Blackwatch, supporting the Defense Microelectronics Activity (DMEA) - the Department of War’s primary semiconductor Foundry. This role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience working alongside senior semiconductor equipment and process engineers developing and delivering leading‑edge technical solutions through microelectronics research, design, prototypes, and product support.
As a Semiconductor Process Technician, you’ll receive comprehensive training to develop the skills needed to support a variety of tasks, including maintaining legacy systems and cutting‑edge semiconductor wafer manufacturing equipment critical to our mission. This position is ideal for recent graduates with mechanical and technical aptitude who are eager to launch their careers in a high‑tech industry. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities- Obtain tool qualification and operation certifications.
- Perform operator preventive maintenance under the supervision of equipment/process engineers.
- Perform wafer process setup and qualification activities.
- Provide technical assistance for process development.
- Perform wafer retrievals and minor equipment recovery.
- Measure and inspect wafers utilizing metrology tools (i.e. precision microscope, profilometer, ellipsometer, particle measurement tools, etc.).
- Operate and maintain chemical baths and wet processing equipment.
- Perform processes safely utilizing established operating standards and hazardous material handling procedures.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by manager or lead.
- Self‑motivated and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Ability to organize, prioritizeandandhandle multiple tasks.
- Basic mathematics, and chemistry knowledge.
- Flexibly to work or train on new tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment wearing gloves and cleanroom suit.
- Ability to lift 25lbs and may require standing/bending/stooping/crawling/climbing.
- Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
- Associates degree or 2‑year technical certificate, or higher, in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, electronics, or mechatronics (STEM).
- Equivalent military training/experience or discipline in electronics, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, etc.
- Knowledge and/or understanding of semiconductor wafer manufacturing processes such as dry etch, wet etch, photolithography, chemical vapor deposition (CVD), physical vapor deposition, ion implantation, oxidation/diffusion, metal, and package assembly operations.
