Chief Estimator

JOB OVERVIEW

The Chief Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising the division's estimating program, providing technical and administrative direction to ensure corporate objectives are met.

• Manage and administer department functions including operating budgets, staffing, wage reviews, work assignments, performance evaluations, bid results, and archives.
• Implement and maintain corporate estimating procedures utilizing the corporate computer estimating system and database.
• Assist Executives, Business Development, and Project Management to determine project bids, strategies, and techniques.
• Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to formal quotation.
• Review scope/proposal letters for bid and negotiated projects.
• Participate in presentations to corporate management and clients; may be responsible for closing the sale.
• Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required.
• Assist in the preparation of studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and cost estimates as required.
• Other duties as assigned within the business unit.

• Advanced management or technical training (preferred).
• Organizational, supervisory, and decision‑making/problem‑solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
• Familiarity with modern computer estimating systems.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to work under time pressure, continual deadlines and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Self‑motivated with capability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and others.

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a business‑related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in similar facility construction estimating and related functions.
• Comprehensive knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts.
• Combination of education and technical/field training (e.g., Engineering, Estimating experience) acceptable.

• Up to 10% travel or as required.
• General work environment: sitting for long periods, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work mainly indoors with varying environmental conditions.
• Noise level usually low to medium; can be loud on the jobsite.
• Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.

Pay Range: $‑$ Annual.
