Job Description
AECOM is seeking an experienced talented Senior Biologist with experience in project management and environmental compliance to support small to large-scale transportation and utility projects throughout northern California. This position would report to AECOM's Oakland or Sacramento offices.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Act as Environmental Compliance Manager on multiple projects, including review and interpretation of project plans and permits; staffing surveyors, monitors, and technical experts; and coordination with clients, contractors, and resource agencies.Act as Project Manager, including responsible and timely management of budget, project tasks, schedules, and project teams.Work closely with clients and internal staff on complex projects involving resource protection, species surveys, permitting, mitigation, and/or restoration.Prepare and provide senior review of technical memorandums, biological permitting documents, preconstruction and post-construction reports, and other technical reports.Contribute as an active and positive member of AECOM’s Environmental practice in the SF Bay Area.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level staff as needed.Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in biology, ecology, environmental planning, or related field.6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education as a task order manager and/or environmental compliance manager on projects involving preconstruction surveys and construction monitoring.Valid U.S Driver's license is required for this role.Preferred Skills/
Experience:
8+ years of relevant experience.Prior experience in environmental consulting is highly desired.Familiarity with permit application requirements, and the typical challenges and strategies related to environmental permitting.Knowledge of and experience with the California Environmental Quality Act and National Environmental Policy Act.CDFW Scientific Collecting Permit and/or U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 10(a)(1)(A) permit(s).Experience preparing preconstruction and post-construction reports and deliverables.Experienced in managing staffing and budgets.Experience in a client-facing role.Familiar with the agencies having jurisdiction over special-status species and hydrologic resources.Excellent oral and written communication skills with both clients and internal staff.Experienced in developing project scopes and estimating project costs.Positive attitude and adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.Good organizational skills and a strong detail-oriented work style.Experience as a field or technical lead, providing oversight and guidance to junior and mid-level technical staff.Additional Information
