Senior Environmental Planner/Project Manager – Energy
Location:
Sacramento, Oakland, San Francisco, or San Jose, CA offices. Hybrid role.
- Lead environmental planning and compliance work, supporting development of environmental documents and studies in compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and other regulations.
- Manage early‑stage due diligence for siting energy projects and associated infrastructure.
- Provide project management on mid- to large‑sized projects, including developing and tracking schedules, budgets, invoicing, and coordination with clients, technical staff and subconsultants.
- Work on environmental documents and entitlements related to high‑profile infrastructure projects, with particular emphasis on the energy sector.
- Contribute to marketing and business development, prepare proposals, and formulate proposal cost estimates as a seller‑doer.
- Provide leadership in mentoring personnel, reviewing their work for accuracy and clarity, and giving constructive feedback on project tasks.
Minimum
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental planning or related field.
- 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent in electric transmission and renewable energy (solar, wind, energy storage) including CEQA/NEPA documents, routing and siting analysis, critical issues analysis, land‑use entitlement applications, and/or overseeing multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license.
- U.S. citizenship.
Preferred
- 12+ years of experience managing and preparing CEQA and NEPA documentation.
- Extensive experience in electric transmission and renewable energy CEQA/NEPA, routing, siting, critical analysis, land‑use entitlements.
- Experience and relationships with California planning and resource agencies, processing land‑use entitlements.
- Experience leading licensing with the CPUC and other state transmission agencies.
- Experience leading NEPA and technical studies for projects on federal lands.
- Project management experience on environmental planning and permitting projects.
- Strong organizational, spreadsheet/document tracking skills, and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Annual salary range: $130,000 to $170,000. Compensation depends on education, qualifications, experience, and location.
