We are looking for bright and passionate talent to help tackle some of our customers’ most pressing challenges in the role of Associate Buildings Energy Engineer or Buildings Energy Engineer.
The Associate Buildings Energy Engineer (or Buildings Energy Engineer) will work closely with Siemens customers to improve their facility’s energy efficiency and carbon footprint. Responsibilities include performing energy audits, calculations, existing building commissioning, designing custom solutions, client presentations, and coordinating business development strategy with sales and technology solution managers.
Responsibilities- Perform energy calculations (e.g., weather‑based BIN calculations).
- Apply building energy simulation programs to develop energy, cooling, and heating load‑building models using modeling software.
- Analyze blueprints to determine mechanical, electrical, and controls systems and facility operational characteristics.
- Participate in pre‑sale activities, working closely with Sales to identify and technically qualify customer opportunities for energy efficiency.
- Participate in and at times lead client meetings and presentations.
- Work with Siemens operations teams and outside vendors to develop facility improvement measures (FIMs).
- Assist and occasionally lead existing building commissioning projects.
- Understand industry standard commissioning procedures or techniques.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
- At least 21 years old to participate in the required Siemens vehicle plan and have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience with mechanical HVAC systems and/or design.
- Experience with data analysis tools to identify trends and patterns.
- Understanding of HVAC design fundamentals.
- Experience with controls fundamentals.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field.
- Experience with energy efficiency engineering within buildings.
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification and/or state certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer.
- Understanding of state and utility incentive programs.
- Ability to perform industry‑standard energy audits and develop action plans and FIM recommendations.
- 5+ years of experience with energy industry projects or energy services.
- Familiarity with MS Excel and basic VBA programming.
- 2+ years of experience in energy efficiency engineering within buildings.
- Experience with existing building/HVAC systems commissioning.
- Experience developing design concepts and schematics concerning recommended FIMs, including scope of work, sequences of operations, code deficiency evaluations, savings potential, cost estimates, and verification data.
$55,264 – $115,790 annually. The Buildings Energy Engineer role also has a target incentive of 5% of the base salary.
