Job Summary
We are seeking a Comm and Network Technical Analyst 4 for a fixed‑term, project‑focused position supporting the new UCDH CA Tower. This is a full‑time role with an anticipated end date on or before December 31, 2030, aligned with the completion of the CA Tower project. Employment is directly tied to the lifecycle of the project and is expected to conclude upon project completion.
In this role you will review design submittals, ensure compliance with UCDH Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR), and maintain our high UCDH low‑voltage, DAS and ERRCS standards for the CA Tower project. You will oversee the DAS/ERRCS design, installation, and deployment, coordinate with wireless carriers for final approvals, and lead system installation efforts in collaboration with UCDH IT Facilities teams, design and construction teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders.
Additional responsibilities include design review, troubleshooting and servicing analog and IP‑based overhead paging systems, application support, and performing Layer 1 and Layer 2 testing related to the CA Tower project. You will be a key stakeholder in the installation and activation of the radio room/helicopter pad and all associated technologies.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid California driver’s license
- iBwave Public Safety Certification Level 1
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience and/or training
- At least 4 years of hands‑on experience in the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of DAS and low‑voltage infrastructure, including fiber and copper cabling
- Experience interpreting construction drawings, supporting low‑voltage system design, cable pulling and termination, and field coordination with contractors or vendors
- Creation of close‑out documentation
- Familiarity with NEC, TIA/EIA, and OSHPD codes and standards, including participation in on‑site inspections
- Proficiency with tools and software related to infrastructure documentation and testing (e.g., signal analyzers, cable testers, Visio or CAD)
- Strong problem‑solving, communication, and organizational skills
- RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) – BICSI
- iBwave Design Certification – Level 2 or Pro
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline
- Experience with PMI, Agile, or Lean Six Sigma project management methodologies
- Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in low‑voltage systems and DAS infrastructure within regulated environments
- Expertise in structured cabling system design, backbone and horizontal cabling planning, telecom room layouts, and power integration
- Leadership of large‑scale DAS projects, including RF planning, commissioning, troubleshooting, and compliance verification for ERRCS and public safety systems
- Contractor management, submittal review, budget and schedule oversight, and detailed engineering documentation aligned with NEC, BICSI, OSHPD, and TIA/EIA standards
- Advanced knowledge of DAS design, deployment, and optimization, including public safety (ERRCS) and commercial carrier integration
- Proficiency with iBwave or similar RF planning tools and commitment to commissioning and acceptance testing procedures
- Experience managing low‑voltage infrastructure projects and using project management tools (e.g., CAPPM)

The IT Implementations team is a critical component of UC Davis Health’s IT Facilities division, responsible for planning, design, installation, and maintenance of all physical‑layer infrastructure related to the CA Tower project. The team works closely with the ICs team, UCDH IT Facilities, design, and construction teams, and supports structured cabling, fiber optics, distributed antenna systems (DAS), overhead paging, and network connectivity.
