Job Summary

The transportation-focused firm TYLin is hiring a Mid‑level Environmental Planner located in Sacramento, California. The role reports to the Environmental Services Manager and involves developing project objectives, drafting scopes and budgets, managing subcontractor contracts, assessing environmental planning and permitting issues, and conducting field investigations.

Responsibilities
  • Support all aspects of a transportation project, including technical approach and subcontractor work.
  • Coordinate preparation of project deliverables (reports, presentations, technical memoranda) with focus on regulatory compliance and technical accuracy.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agency staff for report and permit application preparation.
  • Organize meetings (prepare agendas, develop and present content, and create summaries).
  • Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and agency staff.
  • Author and review analytical sections of environmental documents.
  • Contribute to business development efforts and write proposals for new business.
  • Attend monthly teleconferences, annual workshops, and other meetings or seminars to acquire and enhance knowledge, skills and abilities required to meet program goals and objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, environmental planning, environmental policy or sciences, or related field required; MS preferred.
  • 5‑8 years of experience, preferably in environmental consulting or working for a federal/state environmental agency.
  • 3+ years of experience working with and managing complex documents related to CEQA and NEPA.
  • Familiarity with municipal, state, and federal rules and regulations to assist in environmental documentation, project permitting and regulatory compliance.
  • Expertise with local government/transportation projects.
  • Experience preparing CEQA and NEPA documents and managing or assisting management of project teams.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $95,000 – $140,000 annually. Benefits include extensive medical, disability and life insurance, continuing education, paid time off, employee assistance program, and retirement savings plan with company matching.
