Senior Civil Engineer – Landfill Capital Projects Lead

The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of Associate Civil Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer in the Integrated Waste Division at the Department of Community Services.

Responsibilities: Under direction, performs professional engineering work supporting the operation and improvement of the Yolo County Landfill, including infrastructure systems such as drainage, roadways, and environmental controls, ensuring regulatory compliance. Focuses on preparing plans, specifications, estimates, and reports; assisting with construction oversight and contract administration; coordinating with staff, consultants, and regulatory agencies to support capital projects and day‑to‑day landfill operations.

Qualifications:

• Education: B.S. degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a registered civil engineer.
• Certificate: Valid registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.
• Drivers License: Valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher.

Responsibilities: Under general direction, leads and manages engineering projects and programs for the Yolo County Landfill, overseeing the planning, design, and delivery of complex infrastructure and capital improvement projects while ensuring regulatory compliance. Serves as a senior technical resource, managing consultants, reviewing and approving engineering work, coordinating with regulatory agencies, and providing direction to staff.

Qualifications:

• Education: B.S. degree in civil engineering or a related field.
• Experience: Five (5) years of full‑time experience as a registered civil engineer.
• Certificate: Valid registration as a civil engineer issued by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers.
• License: Valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher.
