Job Description

Assistant Director of Civil Infrastructure – Sacramento, CA

Responsibilities
  • Ensure consistency and integration across engineering designs, standards, and technical requirements throughout all phases of project delivery.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex engineering issues, cost estimating, and construction support.
  • Lead and coordinate preliminary engineering, design development, and alternative technical concepts.
  • Verify designs comply with engineering requirements and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate interface management between engineering and other functional groups, including Civil coordination with O&M.
  • Support executive leadership by providing technical insight to inform timely and effective strategic decision‑making.
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS degree with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent, including 2 years of leadership.
  • California registered Professional Engineer.
Preferred Requirements
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in senior roles on complex major projects or programs.
  • Ability to analyze and inspire innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering management in large‑scale rail projects or programs from planning through preliminary engineering, detail design, construction support, and coordination with system and O&M.
  • Engineering leadership experience and roles in alternative delivery projects.
  • Extensive experience in value engineering and configuration change management.
  • Interface management experience between construction stages or contractors/suppliers during design and implementation phases.
Additional Information
  • Travel may be required for this position.
  • Sponsorship is offered for this role.
  • Offered compensation range: $150,000 to $277,000 annually.
