Senior Project Surveyor (PLS)
Location:
Rancho Cucamonga, CA or Sacramento, CA
Work Arrangement:
Hybrid (2 days in-office / 3 days remote after onboarding)
Compensation:
Up to $180,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
An established California engineering and geospatial consulting firm is seeking a Senior Project Surveyor to support land surveying and mapping projects throughout the state. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Land Surveyor who enjoys a blend of technical project delivery, staff mentorship, client interaction, and project coordination.
The position is primarily office-based with little to no routine field work and offers long-term growth opportunities within a well-established organization.
Responsibilities- Lead surveying and mapping projects from planning through delivery
- Review and process field-collected survey data
- Prepare and oversee:
- Boundary surveys
- ALTA surveys
- Topographic surveys and mapping
- Legal descriptions
- Construction staking exhibits
- Perform and review survey calculations and quality control procedures
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior survey staff
- Support proposal development and fee estimates
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Active California Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license
- Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D experience
- 7+ years of land surveying experience
- Experience with boundary surveys, topographic mapping, and legal descriptions
- Strong office surveying and project delivery background
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- LSIT certification prior to obtaining PLS
- Experience with Trimble software and workflows
- Experience with Micro Station
- Utility, transportation, infrastructure, or public works project experience
- Experience mentoring survey staff or leading project teams
- Hybrid work schedule after onboarding
- Minimal travel requirements

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $180000.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
