Overview

The California Joint Powers Insurance Authority is one of the largest municipal self-insurance pools in the state, serving more than 125 member cities and other governmental agencies for over 45 years. The Authority offers a comprehensive portfolio of programs and services, including liability, workers’ compensation, pollution, property, and earthquake coverage, as well as extensive risk management training and loss control resources.

• Conduct various accounting tasks, including payroll, accounts payable, reconciliation of Authority funds, and posting financial transactions to the general ledger.
• Provide professional-level assistance in reconciling accounting data from external claims administrators.
• Pursue collection of excess recoveries from insurance companies.
• Collaborate with coworkers and members on various projects.

• Experience:
  
  Minimum of two years of increasingly responsible experience in maintaining financial, accounting, and statistical records. Public entity risk pooling and/or public sector experience is a plus.
• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. Licensed CPA preferred.
