Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 (DOE & education)

Ledgent, a Roth Staffing Company, is partnering with a respected manufacturing organization in the Sacramento, CA area, to identify an experienced Senior Cost Accountant
. This is a direct-hire opportunity with a company that values analytical thinkers, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to cost analysis and financial accuracy.
The ideal candidate will bring heavy cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
, strong analytical acumen, mastery of Excel, and hands‑on expertise with ERP systems such as SAP or Net Suite
.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of cost accounting experience, in manufacturing
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, lookups, modeling)
- Experience with a major ERP (SAP, Net Suite, or similar)
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- CPA or CMA certification
- Experience in standard cost updates, variance analysis, and manufacturing process flow understanding
- Maintain, analyze, and update standard costs, including bill of materials (BOM), routings, and overhead rates
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual cost accounting close activities
- Conduct manufacturing variance analysis (PPV, labor, overhead, absorption, scrap, etc.)
- Reconcile inventory accounts and perform cycle count/physical inventory support
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to COGS, inventory, and manufacturing operations
- Prepare detailed cost reports and present findings to management
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and production teams to provide insights that drive cost improvements
- Improve and streamline internal cost control procedures and reporting tools
- Leverage ERP system capabilities (SAP, Net Suite, or comparable) for cost accounting and reporting
- Support implementations, upgrades, and enhancements to cost-related modules
- Develop and refine Excel-based models to support management decisions
- Strong analytical mindset and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights effectively
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
