Position: Financial Services Analyst 2 - SOM: Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine

Reporting to the Finance & Grants Manager, the Financial Services Analyst 2 plays a vital role in supporting the financial and operational functions within the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. The incumbent manages complex financial transactions, reconciliations, grant and gift administration, and detailed fiscal reporting to ensure accurate and timely financial operations across multiple funding sources.

This role requires strong analytical skills and attention to detail to monitor budgets, review ledger activity, and investigate discrepancies. The Financial Services Analyst 2 collaborates with faculty, staff, central finance offices, and research administration to maintain compliance with university policies, sponsor requirements, and regulatory standards.

Operating with a high degree of independence, the Financial Services Analyst 2 contributes to process improvements, supports audit readiness, and assists in the preparation of budget forecasts and financial analyses that inform departmental decision‑making. The position supports multiple financial systems and tools, including Aggie Enterprise, Cognos, Aggie Expense, Kuali Financial System (KFS), FIS Decision Support, UCPath, and data visualization platforms, ensuring accurate data management and reporting.

This position also plays a key role in supporting operational workflows related to payroll funding, grant administration, asset tracking, and expense processing, contributing to the department’s overall fiscal health and resource stewardship.

The Financial Services Analyst 2 works collaboratively within a dynamic academic healthcare environment to support the department’s research, clinical, and educational missions through diligent financial management, compliance, and service excellence.

The Financial Services Analyst 2’s duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform detailed fiscal analysis, budget monitoring, reconciliations, and financial reporting to support departmental operations.
  • Assist with budget projections and contribute to financial planning efforts for faculty research projects and departmental activities.
  • Support grants and gift administration processes, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and sponsor requirements.
  • Process and review payroll funding entries, pre‑listed payrolls, and funding corrections through systems such as UCPath.
  • Utilize financial systems including Aggie Enterprise, Cognos, Kuali Financial System (KFS), FIS Decision Support, and Aggie Expense to extract, analyze, and report financial data.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and central finance offices to resolve ledger variances, audit inquiries, and compliance issues.
  • Maintain accurate records for assets and inventory, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure proper tracking and accountability.
  • Assist with fiscal closing activities, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial adjustments to ensure data integrity.
  • Use Microsoft Excel, Smartsheet, and other data analysis tools to support project tracking, reporting, and workflow optimization.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth financial operations and compliance adherence.
  • Support audit readiness by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests under guidance.
  • Adapt to evolving departmental priorities and financial systems, contributing to continuous process improvements and operational efficiency.
