Supervising Actuary

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Deputy Chief Actuary, the Actuary Supervisor plans, organizes, and directs the work of the Valuation Services Unit within the Actuarial Office of the California Public Retirement System (CalPERS). The supervisor serves as a subject‑matter expert, consults on the most complex and sensitive program issues, and may personally perform high‑complexity actuarial analyses.

The role includes planning and directing unit work, consulting on sensitive program matters, and executing high‑complexity actuarial tasks as needed.

• Actuarial education and experience as outlined in the Class Specification.
• Three years of actuarial experience while holding an Associateship credential with the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), or equivalent recognition.

Classification: ACTUARY SUPERVISOR $14,151.00 – $17,633.00. New to State candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification.

Hybrid work schedule: up to two days remote, three days onsite per week.
