WHO YOU ARE:
You are a results-driven banking operations professional with extensive experience in checking account operations, account reconciliation, compliance, and member service. You excel at leading teams, resolving complex operational issues, and driving process improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and member satisfaction. You foster a positive, high-performing environment through coaching, training, and continuous improvement while ensuring all operations align with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and strategic business goals.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Lead and oversee the processing of checking account transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and operational efficiency.
- Manage both routine and complex account reconciliations, promptly investigating and resolving discrepancies to maintain financial accuracy.
- Collaborate closely with the accounting department to research and clear differences in assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- Execute closure procedures for accounts that remain overdrawn beyond acceptable time frames, adhering strictly to credit union policies and guidelines.
- Promptly handle internal and external member requests for account research and adjustments, ensuring accurate and timely responses by collaborating with relevant departments to gather necessary information.
- Provide expert support to members and internal teams by addressing escalated checking account inquiries, resolving complex issues, and implementing effective solutions.
- Identify and resolve disputes and inquiries from staff, third-party vendors, and other departments, maintaining professionalism and efficiency in all communications.
- Lead and see through process improvement initiatives, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and overall effectiveness of checking operations.
- Support supervisors and leadership in updating and refining departmental procedures, ensuring they align with operational and compliance standards.
- Subject matter expert in industry regulations and internal policies, offering guidance and ensuring all checking operations meet the highest compliance standards.
- Stay current with industry changes and participate in training programs to maintain a comprehensive understanding of compliance requirements and best practices.
- Monitor, update and manage workflow across a variety of tasks, ensuring the team maintains operational efficiency while adhering to assigned limits and balancing daily transactions.
- Foster a positive and motivational team environment by coaching, monitoring, and providing constructive feedback to enhance performance and productivity.
- Conduct training sessions for team members to deepen their understanding of checking operations procedures, compliance requirements, and best practices.
- Lead and facilitate the processing of foreign checks, ensuring accurate and compliant handling of these transactions.
- Generate and review production reports related to checking operations, providing actionable insights to improve processes and performance.
- Deliver exceptional service to members via telephone, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism, efficiency, and courtesy.
- Provide comprehensive support across the department, stepping in to perform additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to maintain seamless daily operations.
QUALIFICIATIONS AND PREFERENCES:
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required
- 4+ years experience with cash management or financial industry required
- 2+ years hands-on experience in customer service roles, showcasing a consistent commitment to delivering exceptional support required
- 4+ years experience in item processing or operation related financial roles required
