This is the advanced journey level in the Tax Program Technician (TPT) series. Under the general direction of an Administrator I, or Tax Program Supervisor, the incumbent is a technical team member within the Collection Account Resolution Service (CARS) Group. The incumbent performs duties with specific instructions and established guidelines. The incumbent is expected to provide a wide variety of technical assistance and services to the Business Entities (BE), Personal Income Tax (PIT), and Installment Agreement (IA) program areas.
The incumbent is responsible for processing the most difficult and complex BE, PIT and IA work assignments. The incumbent is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of independence and initiative and may serve as a team leader or technical expert for the unit assisting in identifying, researching, and resolving procedural and work‑related issues. Incumbent will be expected to attend meetings, provide input, and assist by contributing alternatives to the resolution process.
As a TPTII, the incumbent will communicate agenda items and meeting information to unit management as appropriate. Incumbent may work with lead(s) to develop unit training and procedure guidelines and recommend improvements that will produce a more efficient flow of work within the program. The incumbent may also assist with job shadowing for new hires.
Based on operational need, staff may be rotated within the CARS groups as needed. Tax Program Technician IIs may be assigned to assist with the development and implementation of new workload strategies, creating or updating procedures as warranted.

Desirable Qualifications- Familiar with Franchise Tax Board organization, operations, programs, and related systems.
- Knowledge and experience of Business Entity Tax Systems (BETS), Taxpayer Information (TI) Systems, Enterprise Tax System (ETS), Taxpayer Folder (TPF), Case Management (CM), and other Legacy Systems.
- Ability to analyze and determine appropriate accounts for resolution in BETS, TI, ETS, and related collection systems.
- Knowledge and experience performing transactions in BETS and/or TI.
- Experience with tax compliance or debt collection, working with customers, account analysis, performing transactions, or analytical experience.
- Knowledge of tax compliance or debt collections experience in a governmental agency.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Ability to work with integrity and accept responsibility.
- Ability to handle changing priorities and or workloads in order to achieve operational and program goals.
- Ability to use a variety of techniques to analyze account data and draw sound conclusions.
- Effective analytical, technical, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and navigate multiple computer systems simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams).
