About

the Opportunity

The Hazard Mitigation Section increases California’s capacity to withstand natural and human-caused disasters through state and local mitigation planning, grants administration, and specialized technical assistance. Additionally, the Section supports communities in developing, seeking funding for, and implementing plans and projects that reduce the effects of future disasters.

Under the Hazard Mitigation Administration Unit Supervisor, Analyst II provides administrative and data analytics support to the Hazard Mitigation Section and tracks the status of all hazard mitigation grants. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintaining and updating the Hazard Mitigation Section website
  • Posting all notifications for trainings, webinars, NOFOs, etc.
  • Providing data analytics support to the Hazard Mitigation Section
  • Tracking the status of all mitigation grants and disbursement of
  • funds to subrecipients
  • Coordinating with the Recovery Financial Processing Division to ensure mitigation funds are reconciled and grant payments are issued in accordance to grant program deadlines

Desirable Qualifications
  • Demonstrate willingness to assume duties of various complexity and adapt to changing priorities
  • Have excellent communication and interactive skills
  • Be proficient in the use of various computer word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications and be willing to learn new technological tools and to incorporate them in daily tasks
  • Have basic and intermediate skills in running financial reports, including but not limited to setting up & correcting formulas and cleaning up data
  • Possess basic and advanced arithmetic skills, including but not limited to performing calculations to determine sums, differences, and percentages
  • Experience in administration and financial assistance for grant programs
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present information and express ideas in a clear, confident, and convincing manner
  • Have experience in working with large amounts of data and providing data analysis
  • Demonstrate ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions, protocols, and procedures
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multi-disciplined team environment
  • Have excellent and predictable attendance
  • Possess strong organizational, accounting, and time management skills
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and ensure the completeness and accuracy of the provided information particularly with financial records
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and work well under pressure to meet quick deadlines
  • Demonstrate willingness to participate in meetings, discussions, and conversations with internal and external stakeholders to identify or resolve issue
Working Conditions

Hybrid Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.

Conflict of Interest (COI): This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
