The Accounts Receivable Management (ARM) Division manages delinquent Personal Income Tax and Bank and Corporation Income Tax debts as well as Non-Tax debts. Our collection approach is founded on the principle that we use the least intrusive action first to gain compliance. Our collection strategy is to encourage taxpayers to resolve their debts as quickly as possible through the method best suited for their situation to help them achieve long term compliance.
In addition to income tax liabilities, we collect non-tax related debts owed to state and local governments when they are referred to us by statute.
The ARM Division provides excellent customer service to the public to help resolve their tax related issues. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is responsible and enjoys mentoring and collaborating with others to join our team.
In this role, the incumbent will collect delinquent tax and/or non-tax debts in a contact center environment. The incumbent will obtain and analyze relevant facts, make fair and impartial determinations, analyze, and interpret written and numerical data, recognize questions or situations outside of the area of responsibility or knowledge, and interpret and apply and/or explain governmental, tax or nontax rules, regulations, and departmental procedures and policies.
In the customer service role, the incumbent will:
- Utilize the phone and computer to respond to taxpayer inquiries, pertaining to the collection and resolution of Personal Income Tax, Business Entity, and Non-Tax Debt accounts resulting from collection notices and actions
- Navigate multiple computer software applications to review accounting issues/problems
- Assist dissatisfied taxpayers and handle challenging situations in a professional manner
- Need to be able to work well under pressure, analyze documents thoroughly, explain applicable tax laws to taxpayers, and apply appropriate collection remedies to accounts
- Need to demonstrate a high degree of initiative, prudence, analytical ability, verbal as well as written communication skills, and be independent in decision making
Consideration will be given to the applicant's preference and every effort will be made to match those requests. However, candidates may be placed into positions based ultimately on operational and business needs of the ARM Division.
