Department InformationThe California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) makes life better for Californians by fairly and efficiently collecting the revenue that supports our essential public services, with CDTFA administered programs accounting for about twenty‑three (23%) percent of all state revenue. Tax programs administered by the CDTFA are concentrated in two general areas – sales and use tax, and special taxes and fees.

A Business Taxes Administrator III in the Special Tax and Fee Policy Section (STFPS) through subordinate supervisors plans, directs, controls, organizes, and evaluates the activities of the STFPS. The role involves making decisions concerning the administration of the STFPS, serving in a key leadership capacity on the tax policy management team, and contributing to the Processing, Policy, and Data Division (PPDD) and the overall management team of CDTFA.
Responsibilities include developing policy and procedures, analyzing program processes for all tax programs administered by the Business Tax and Fee Division, and coordinating the work and administration of STFPS with other CDTFA units and external entities. Provide expert advice on the development of tax policy and procedures.
Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.
Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all CDTFA salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California’s Personal Leave Program.
