Join the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) Homeland Security Policy Team as Supervisor II.
From raging wildfires to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, California faces complex threats requiring strategic policy leadership. We're seeking a proven supervisor to lead our Office of Homeland Security Policy (OHSP), shaping policies that protect critical infrastructure, advance the State Homeland Security Strategy, and strengthen emergency preparedness statewide.
Join our fast-paced team as Homeland Security Policy Chief (Supervisor II), providing executive-level oversight for policy, legislative, and intergovernmental initiatives. OHSP delivers strategic leadership to the Homeland Security Division, coordinating the Homeland Security Advisory Committee (HSAC) as liaison to federal, state, local, private, and nonprofit partners while monitoring federal regulations and national trends impacting California's homeland security enterprise.
Key supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Leading policy and legislative activities for STAC, Cal-CSIC cybersecurity coordination, and division-wide strategic projects.
- Managing professional policy staff through performance evaluation, training, and workload prioritization.
- Serving as primary liaison with Office of Legislative and Governmental Affairs for bill analyses, legislative reports, and budget proposals.
- Directing complex policy research, analysis, and recommendations aligned with state/federal requirements and Cal OES priorities.
- Providing high-level briefings to Cal OES executives, representing HSD in HSAC meetings and advisory bodies.
- Strengthening partnerships across law enforcement, local/tribal governments, and internal Cal OES units.
This Mather Campus position is eligible for hybrid schedule (up to 1 remote day/week), with additional in-office requirements based on business needs.
