The University Birthing Suites is a birthing center with facilities that can accommodate patients in various phases of observation, antepartum labor and delivery. The unit includes two operating rooms and two recovery rooms, permitting family access for instant bonding. The on‑site obstetric emergency department is also available for evaluation of obstetric issues 24/7. The Women's Pavilion is a 24‑bed unit that consists of antepartum, postpartum, and medical‑surgical patients.
Both units have a normal newborn nursery; most infants remain in their mother's room for family‑centered bonding after initial assessment. The units serve a diverse population spanning over 33 counties, receiving referrals for high‑risk pregnancies, fetal surgeries, and pregnancy terminations. Comprehensive patient care is provided by a collaborative team including registered nurses, medical students, interns, residents, and faculty physicians, as well as unit clerks, social workers, dietitians, and physical therapists.
