Job Summary
#CA-DS The Intake Specialist uses strong customer service skills and knowledge of authorization and reimbursement practices to ensure patients' fast, appropriate, and user-friendly access to home infusion care. The Intake Specialist accepts and processes referrals, identifies payer sources, verifies benefit information, and acquires authorization as needed to begin patient service or to determine denial of patient service. This position also communicates with the home infusion billing team to follow up on unresolved coverage issues and claims denials.
Documents and communicates to appropriate providers and internal departments accurate authorization information on current or potential patients. This position also completes the patient intake process, schedules patient appointments, and partners with the care team and external resources to ensure efficient patient flow.

Minimum Qualifications- One (1) year of experience submitting prior authorizations under medical benefits
- Experience working in an electronic health record finding needed medical documentation as it relates to a prior authorization request
- Ability to process prior authorizations
- Excellent customer service skills and communications both orally and in writing
- Experience performing home infusion intake
- Experience billing both pharmacy and medical benefit for home infusion
- Experience enrolling patients in and working with manufacturer patient assistance programs
- Experience scheduling patients
- Experience working in a home infusion pharmacy
- Experience working with Epic EMR, CPR+, or other clinical software
- Knowledge of home infusion billing and coding practices
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medi-Cal practices relating to intake, authorization, and billing
- 85% - Intake and Authorization Work
