Payroll Operations Lead
Job OverviewEnsure payroll processes and reviews comply with established internal controls and regulatory requirements. Supports audit requests, documents payroll procedures, and contributes to continuous process improvement initiatives. Handles complex payroll matters with professionalism and exercises sound judgement in high‑pressure or time‑sensitive situations.
Roles & Responsibilities- Serves as a primary payroll systems subject matter expert, with advanced knowledge of Workday Payroll highly desirable.
- Reviews and approves complex payroll transactions including banking changes, MPFs, retroactive adjustments, TORs, terminations, and other monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll activities.
- Supports payroll reconciliations, including general ledger reporting and bank/account reconciliation inquiries.
- Audits payroll results within Workday to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational integrity.
- Interprets company policies, union agreements, and federal/state regulations affecting payroll procedures.
- Partners with HR, HRIS, and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy and operational readiness.
- Provides payroll‑related information to employees, supervisors, outside agencies, and internal or external auditors as required.
- Works under pressure on multiple concurrent tasks and meets deadlines in a fast‑paced environment with changing priorities.
- Responsible for G/L reporting, bank and account reconciliation inquiries.
- Primary payroll systems expert and resource for the department.
- Provides information as requested to employees, supervisors, outside agencies, internal and external auditors, or other agencies.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related field from a four‑year college or university with 3-5 years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Multi‑state payroll experience.
CPP or FPC Preferred (may be required to have a valid driver’s license).
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesCarries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; performance evaluations; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensure employees are properly trained on tasks and safety requirements.

Compensation$73,250.00–$77,250.00 per year
