Job Description:

Configure and manage Splunk, including installation, data inputs and forwarder configuration, data management, user accounts, licenses, distributed search, and basic monitoring and troubleshooting.

Maintain the Splunk software and its infrastructure for optimal performance.

Add data sources to the Splunk platform according to Power User needs.

Assist power users with the development of advanced dashboards, alerting and reporting.

In conjunction with the CTO office, review and approve technical architecture for new application, infrastructure, network and communications technology strategies and plans related to configuration, upgrades, performance and capacity.

In conjunction with third‑party vendors, monitor and review technical policies, procedures and standards for all applications and infrastructure technology.

Participate in and review the design of the installation and testing of new production support systems. Review and approve vendor analyses of changing system processing demands.

Review and approve technical architecture for new network technology strategies and plans related to configuration, upgrades, performance and capacity to ensure systems meet performance levels and interoperability requirements. Participate and review the design of the installation and testing of all new network systems.

Communicate enhancement production projects/tasks designs, schedules and status to appropriate team, systems management and users.

Experience:

Seven to ten years’ experience in systems design and/or programming, configuration work or managing various systems in a multi‑platform environment.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in capacity planning and management experience with at least 3 years in a production support role with focus on monitoring, trending, forecasting, log analyzer tools such as Splunk, Elk Stack, SaaS Analyzers (Sumo Logic, Loggly, Splunk > Storm), Open.

3+ years’ experience as Splunk System Administrator.

Advanced experience in complex IT operational environments in various aspects of design, engineering, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and ongoing support.

Minimum four years implementation experience in Wintel, Unix, databases, middleware, voice and data network, storage including backup and recovery, monitoring and problem resolution/isolation preferred.

Two years experience with Cisco routers, switches, and access devices.

4 years of experience with IT protocol and standards.

OR any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
