The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) within CDPH advances its vision of "Healthy Individuals and Families in Healthful Communities" through the provision of high-quality information, resources, and technology.
The Customer Service Section is the first point of contact for information technology (IT) support services; provides an interface for services bridging program and IT needs, manages enterprise workstations, virtual desktop, and supports asset management functions.

This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by creating customer focused solutions that are responsive and agile; supporting modern infrastructure, tools, architecture, and standards; to effectively provide efficient services following service level agreements. The Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) leverages data and technology to create sustainability across CDPH by creating efficient solutions that meet customer expectations and reduce waste.

The incumbent works under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, Chief, Customer Service Section (CSS). The Information Technology Supervisor II (IT Sup II) plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the subordinate staff in their unit. The IT Sup II is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation, implementation and customer service support of IT-related products and services at CDPH.
The IT Sup II performs duties in the Client Services and Business Technology Management domains.
Desirable QualificationsIn addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Experience in planning, organizing, and directing unit operations.
- Experience in supervising IT support staff directly or indirectly.
- Experience with the ability to direct and monitor desktop support projects and high-priority issues.
- Experience in recruiting, interviewing, and selection of staff.
- Ability to ensure staff complete mandatory training.
- Ability to manage timesheet and absence request.
- Oversee and experience with implementation and incident management for desktop/mobile support.
- Experience using ticketing systems to generate workload and status reports.
- Experience and familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) and IT Asset Management (ITAM) tools
- Experience with maintaining compliance with IT hardware/software standards.
- Ability to collaborate with customers and staff to prioritize and allocate resources.
- Experience working with program managers to resolve resource gaps or reprioritize workloads.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining procedures, policies, operations, and reference materials for desktop support services.
