Platform Operations Engineer EST Office Shift

Position: Platform Operations Engineer -  8:30 PM - 8:30 AM EST Office Shift

* The Platform Operations team in Infrastructure Engineering & Operations focuses on deploying large-scale changes to our numerous networks safely, while participating in knowledge base management of GPO's numerous workflows. The team is devoted to solving the toughest technical challenges while implementing changes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.

* As a Platform Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the deployed network in Operations, improving and streamlining existing processes and procedures while being a point person for issues and questions. This role will also participate in the incident reduction initiative and long-term troubleshooting of customer-facing issues triggered by a change on the deployed network.

As a Platform Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for:

+ Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues in area of specialty

+ Identifying and implementing process and efficiency improvements

+ Improving tools, alerts, documentation, and procedures

+ Maintaining positive relationships across the teams

+ Working 8:30PM - 8:30AM EST on Friday through Sunday in Cambridge, MA for first six months then can be 50% office and 50% remote after

* To be successful in this role you will:

+ Have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant related technical field or its equivalent

+ Possess experience of administering, monitoring and resolving issues in a high availability platform environment

+ Understand basic Linux concepts and perform simple command-line and file navigation tasks with guidance

+ Identify common network protocols and perform basic configuration tasks with guidance and supervision.

+ Be a team player, able to collaborate, prioritize, and solve problems in an ever-changing environment

+ Have excellent communication and written skills to articulate technical information to internal teams and customers

+ Be required to undergo or possess and maintain a successfully adjudicated USG Tier 3 background investigation

** Compensation*
* Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $60,000 - $108,000/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
