UC Davis Health IT Facilities/Implementations group participates in planning, budgeting and implementation activities which provide desktop, voice, software, and ancillary systems for the Health System's need for construction, planning, and FIG projects across the health system.
As an Info Sys 2 you will be functioning as an installation technician for the IT Implementations team. This incumbent will complete tasks related to the staging and installation of various types of desktop/voice/printing equipment as is related to new construction, major/minor remodels, and relocations.
The incumbent will install new equipment, test connections to make sure the equipment is working properly and may be required to remove old equipment. The incumbent will also be required to clean up their work area, remove garbage and packaging materials and relocate to a dumpster, and may be required to answer questions for their customers.
In this position, it will be your job to stage and/or install UCDH desktop/voice/printing devices in projects inherent to new construction, major/minor remodels, and relocations. The incumbent will be required to comply with all construction site safety requirements, as well as any and all legal requirements.
This incumbent needs to be technically skilled and capable of using a wide variety of hardware and software tools, able to troubleshoot existing equipment, remove it, and install new equipment in its place. The incumbent may also be asked to test connections and provide instructions on how to use the equipment.
This is a client-facing role so this incumbent should have solid customer service skills and a professional demeanor.
Info Sys 2/3 Installation Technician Responsibilities- Drive to UCDH sites
- Troubleshoot existing equipment and remove or replace malfunctioning parts
- Install new versions of equipment
- Ensure that cables are managed properly and out of the way
- Answer any questions that the customer may have about the equipment
- Test connections to ensure they work properly
- Clean up once the job is complete
- Possess a solid technical skillset

- Required to complete desktop/printing staging/installations to ensure the project stays on schedule prior to construction completion
Under the general supervision of IT Facilities/Implementations manager, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing and participating in design, development and overall FD&P, Planning, FIG and IT Facilities project deployment and support. Under minimal direction, this position will assist in managing small to medium construction and FIG projects and also assist with project tasks such as coordination with various teams, documentation, client equipment deployment, testing, validation and support during go-live.
This position may be required to work extra hours and/or evenings or weekends - depending on the project requirements/schedule.

- High school diploma, GED or equivalent work experience/training
- Demonstrated ability to organize/handle multiple projects at the same time, prioritize, and allocate resources to complete projects on schedule
- Proven analytical and organizational skills to assess, analyze, organize and monitor project progress and risks
- Demonstrated experience with providing technical triage and support for client devices like computers, printers, mobile devices, etc.
- Demonstrated experience configuring and installing computers and printers
- Experience in conducting technical assessments, preparing reports, and recommend results and solutions, concisely and clearly
- Proven experience with sound and independent decision-making skills
- Demonstrated ability to take direction and feedback, and follow proper project documentation procedures during the project life cycle
- Proven experience working with IT equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, monitors etc.
- Build professional, cohesive and collaborative relationships with team members, customers and project stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to understand and explain technical problems in non-technical terms
- Proven ability to work with high-level administrators, leaders, faculty, staff, technical programmers and unsophisticated users effectively
- Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy appropriate for interfacing with wide range of administrators, faculty, staff, along with external vendors and other university campuses.
