SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR II

DEPARTMENT: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

REPORTS TO: VP, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

PAY SCALE: $83,000 - $98,000

Sacramento Credit Union is seeking a candidate to join our IT team as a Systems Administrator II
in our downtown Sacramento corporate headquarters.

This position is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the organization’s Windows‑based server and virtualization infrastructure. This role oversees Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and identity/access services while ensuring system reliability, security, and performance. The administrator installs, configures, and maintains VMware virtualization hosts and virtual machines, performs regular system updates and patching, and manages enterprise backup and recovery operations using Veeam Backup & Replication.

An individual who enjoys working closely with business and user groups to identify and initiate projects would be successful in our environment.

WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT:
  • Monday – Friday Typical Business Hours
  • Work is performed in a normal business office environment. Occasional travel to other branches and weekend work may be required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Provision, modify, and disable user accounts.
  • Administer Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra , and Group Policy.
  • Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, and One Drive.
  • Maintain role‑based access controls and security groups.
  • Lead multifactor authentication and identity security initiatives.
  • Deploy, configure, and maintain workstation and endpoint devices.
  • Administer endpoint management platforms (Intune, Group Policy, imaging, software deployment).
  • Perform operating system upgrades, patching, and software lifecycle management.
  • Resolve endpoint hardware, connectivity, and software issues.
  • Maintain endpoint security and compliance standards.
  • Monitor network & system health and performance using approved monitoring tools.
  • Perform vulnerability remediation and patch compliance activities.
  • Support security audits, examinations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate alerts and participate in incident response activities.
  • Follow established security policies and procedures.
  • Assist with security awareness, access reviews, and identity governance activities.
  • Monitor and maintain backup operations.
  • Administer enterprise backup and recovery platforms.
  • Verify backup success and investigate failures.
  • Lead recovery testing and disaster recovery exercises.
  • Develop and maintain backup documentation and recovery procedures.
  • Support business continuity planning efforts.
  • Serve as an escalation point for technical issues.
  • Lead small to medium infrastructure projects.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects and technology implementations.
  • Develop implementation and rollback plans for infrastructure changes.
  • Cross-train with other Information Systems team members.
  • Participate in vendor evaluations, technology recommendations, and solution implementations.
NECESSARY

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of fouryears of experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role, preferably in a financial institution
  • Advance knowledge of Windows Server Administration
  • Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra  Microsoft 365.
  • Experience managing VMWare or Hyper-Venvironments.
  • Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience with Power Shell or other scripting languages.
  • Experience supporting security initiatives, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical users.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to independently manage priorities and technical projects.
PREFERRED

SKILLS:

  • Experience supporting financial institutions or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience with Veeam, VMware, Microsoft Intune, Entra , Microsoft 365 Administration, and enterprise monitoring solutions.
  • Experience participating in IT audits, examinations, and regulatory reviews.
