Role: Land Use Attorney
Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid)
About the Role:
An established California law firm is seeking an experienced Land Use Attorney to join its team in Sacramento. This is a hybrid position offering a balance of remote and in-office work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in land use and municipal law, with experience advising public entities and private clients on a wide range of planning, zoning, and development matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on land use, zoning, planning, and development issues.
- Advise clients on compliance with CEQA, NEPA, and other environmental and regulatory requirements.
- Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, staff reports, and other legal documents.
- Represent clients in administrative hearings, public meetings, and court proceedings as needed.
- Collaborate with city and county staff, planning commissions, and other public agencies.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active member of the California Bar in good standing (required).
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in land use, municipal, or environmental law.
- Strong understanding of CEQA, planning and zoning laws, and local government operations.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $170,000 – $190,000 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
