About the Company

Our client is a well-established and growing Sacramento-based food manufacturer with a strong reputation for quality, producing frozen and refrigerated dessert products for major national retail and food service brands. The company has built lasting partnerships with some of the best-known names in the industry, and continued growth is driving investment in stronger operational leadership. This is a financially stable, founder-led organization where leadership works closely together and decisions move quickly.

The company's name is withheld at this stage of the search but will be shared with qualified, interested candidates.

Position Summary

This is a rare opportunity to build and lead a cohesive, end-to-end supply chain function from the ground up, with direct visibility to and partnership with the CFO and executive team. The Supply Chain Director will unify purchasing and customer service under one strategic vision, shaping how the company scales while protecting quality, cost, and service levels. The ideal candidate is someone who leads from the floor, not from behind a desk, and wants ownership over a function they can shape in their own image.

This is a 100% onsite role.

Why This Role

• High visibility — report directly to the CFO and partner regularly with the executive team on strategy, not just execution.

• Ownership — build and unify purchasing and customer service into one cohesive function, largely from a blank slate.

• Growth — join a company on a genuine growth trajectory, where this role is being created to support the next stage of scale.

• Culture — a hands-on, fast-moving, founder-led environment where good ideas can move quickly from idea to execution.

• Compensation — competitive base salary plus bonus potential, reflecting the strategic importance of this role.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership

• Develop and execute an integrated supply chain strategy spanning procurement, inventory, and order fulfillment.

• Provide direct leadership to the Purchasing Manager and Customer Service Manager, setting goals, coaching performance, and building bench strength.

• Partner with the CFO and executive team on capacity planning, capital investments, and long-range operational strategy.

• Translate company growth targets into supply chain capabilities, staffing plans, and process improvements.

• Set and monitor inventory policies (safety stock, reorder points) to prevent shortages and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.

• Analyze demand trends and seasonality to guide purchasing decisions across the supply chain.

• Ensure all supply chain activities comply with Plant, State, Federal, FDA, HACCP, and BRC food safety regulations.

• Partner with Quality and Production to maintain traceability, product specifications, and audit readiness.

• Other duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Purchasing & Supplier Oversight

• Oversee sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management for all food and non-food materials, in partnership with the Purchasing Manager.

• Drive strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier diversification, and cost-savings programs without compromising quality or reliability.

• Review and approve key vendor contracts, pricing agreements, and terms negotiated by the purchasing team.

• Monitor supplier performance (quality, service, delivery) and hold vendors accountable to agreed standards.

Customer Service & Order Fulfillment

• Oversee the Customer Service Manager and team to ensure order accuracy, on-time fulfillment, and a high standard of customer experience.

• Align customer service, sales, and operations to manage order promising, allocation, and exception handling.

• Serve as an escalation point for significant customer or fulfillment issues, driving root-cause resolution.

Cost Control, Budgeting & Reporting

• Own the supply chain budget, including purchasing spend, freight,…
