Job Description And DutiesEffective July 1, 2025, The California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025). PLP 2025 directs that each full-time employee shall receive a reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2025 leave credits, monthly. The salary range(s) included in the job advertisement do not reflect the reduction in pay. SEIU Bargaining units (1, 3, 4, 11, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21) will receive a 3 percent reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 per month.
The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation is recruiting for one, Permanent, Full-time Manager II position within the Human Resources Office. This position is to be located in the Sacramento office. This recruitment may be used to fill subsequent vacancies of these positions within the next 180 days.
The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) is seeking a highly skilled and strategic leader to serve as Chief of the Human Resources Office. Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner of Administration, the Manager II provides high-level leadership and oversight of all human resources programs and functions supporting a complex, statewide regulatory department. This position plays a critical role in shaping DFPI’s workforce strategy, ensuring compliance with civil service rules, advancing modernization efforts, and supporting executive leadership through sound judgment, data-informed decision-making, and effective people management.

Minimum QualificationsFour years of work experience performing analytical, technical, clerical, or customer service duties. Academic education from an accredited college/university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis; and.
An additional four years of professional analytical and/or technical experience, two years of which must be equivalent to a Supervisor I or higher.
